Why You’ll Love This Yogurt Drinks Recipe

  • Quality Ingredients: When you make yogurt drinks at home, you have full control over the ingredients. You can pick out your favorite fruits, yogurt, and add-ins and tailor the taste and texture to your liking.
  • Customization: Homemade yogurt drinks are infinitely customizable. You can experiment with different fruits, spices, and sweeteners to create unique flavor combinations that suit your palate. Whether you prefer a classic strawberry yogurt drink or a tropical blend, the possibilities are endless when you’re in charge of the recipe.
  • Nutritional Benefits: By making yogurt drinks at home, you can boost their nutritional value. You can fully control the sweetness and can add extra ingredients such as flax seeds and hemp hearts making them a great choice for a healthy snack or breakfast option.
  • Freshness: Unlike store-bought versions that may have been sitting on shelves for weeks, homemade yogurt drinks are made fresh on the spot. This means they retain more of their probiotic content and their flavors are more vibrant and pronounced.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Buying individual bottles of yogurt drinks from the store can add up! Making them at home is often more cost-effective. With just a few basic ingredients, you can whip up a batch of homemade yogurt drinks that will last you several servings, saving you money in the long run.

What You’ll Need

Here is what you’ll need to make this yogurt drinks recipe:

Ingredients to make homemade yogurt drinks.
  • Yogurt: The main ingredient for these yogurt drinks. I like to use plain whole-milk Greek yogurt since it is thick, creamy, and high in protein, but any type of yogurt will work.
  • Strawberries: Try to pick out berries that are super ripe for the best natural sweetness. You’ll want strawberries that are dark red and juicy on the inside, not bitter and white.
  • Milk: I used whole milk in this recipe, but dairy-free alternatives work as well.
  • Maple Syrup: For added sweetness to the drink. The strawberries provide some sweetness but the touch of maple syrup makes these drinks more similar to the store-bought variety. Feel free to omit or adjust the amount of maple syrup as desired.
  • Vanilla Extract: For added flavor and to help bring out the sweetness and flavor of the drink.

See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Ingredient Substitutions & Additions

  • Greek yogurt: Feel free to swap out Greek yogurt with a dairy-free alternative like coconut yogurt. If you are using a thinner yogurt, you may want to reduce the amount of milk added.
  • Milk: You may substitute the milk with any dairy-free alternative such as oat milk or coconut milk.
  • Strawberries: The strawberries may be replaced with a different type of berry (ex: blueberries, raspberries, blackberries) or your favorite fruit! Note, if using a fruit like a banana, you may want to increase the amount of milk added since bananas are thicker in texture when blended.
  • Maple Syrup: Maple syrup may be replaced with honey (note: honey should not be served to little ones under the age of 1).

Storage Instructions

These homemade yogurt drinks can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days. I like to store them in these 4 oz mini glass bottles because they’re perfect to grab and go for a quick snack. You will notice that the drink will separate when stored, but that’s perfectly normal! When you are ready to drink it, just give it a quick shake and you’ll be good to go! If you plan to store them in these mini glass bottles or a similar bottle, don’t fill them to the top and leave a little space off so that you’ll have room to shake the drink when ready to serve.

  • I love storing these yogurt drinks in these mini 4 oz glass bottles for a quick grab-and-go option. These glass silicone cups are great to use if serving the yogurt drink on the spot and I love that they include a silicone sleeve to protect it from any possible spills and falls.
