What You’ll Need

Here’s what you’ll need to make these apple fritters:

Ingredients to make apple fritters.
  • Apple: The star ingredient for these fritters. I highly suggest using a Honeycrisp apple for these fritters since they are crisp and naturally sweet, but you can use any sweet apple you have on hand. Fuji apples are my second favorite option next to Honeycrisp!
  • Flour: I used all-purpose flour in this recipe, but you may replace it with a different type of flour.
  • Egg: Used as a binder to help hold the fritters together.
  • Baking Powder: Used to allow the fritters to rise.
  • Cinnamon: Provides an extra warm spice and subtle sweetness.

See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Ingredient Substitutions & Additions

  • Egg: For an egg-free version, omit the egg and add in 2 extra tablespoons of flour, 2 tbsp milk, and 1 tbsp oil.
  • All-purpose flour: You may replace the all-purpose flour with oat flour or whole wheat flour.

Storage Instructions

Let the fritters completely cool and store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days in the refrigerator. To freeze, store in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag for up to 3 months. You may reheat on low heat in a pan or simply microwave for 20-30 seconds, or until warmed through!

So good, so easy. I gave a couple of these to my 2-year and he kept saying “so good!” as he ate them. I served with plain greek yogurt and apple sauce, and he preferred the double-apple option of dipping in apple sauce. He’ll be getting one in his lunch tomorrow. I’ve memorized the recipe already and will be making these often. Thank you!

I keep burning these on the skillet. Is there a way to bake in an oven instead?

    1. Lily Payen says:

Hi! I’m so sorry that keeps happening! I haven’t tried baking them but if you do, I’d recommend baking on a sheet of parchment paper so that they don’t stick. For pan cooking, I’d try lowering the heat on your pan, spraying with oil/butter to coat the pan and making sure to use a good nonstick pan. I hope it works out if you give them another shot!
