What You’ll Need
Here is what you’ll need to make these pizza rolls from crescent rolls:

- Crescent Roll Dough: Store-bought crescent dough is buttery and soft when baked and the perfect base for these pizza rolls.
- Mozzarella Cheese: For that classic cheesy pizza flavor and taste. I cut up rectangles from a block of mozzarella, but you can also use shredded mozzarella.
- Pepperoni Slices: Classic pizza topping for added saltiness and flavor.
- Pizza Sauce: Use a good quality pizza sauce for the best flavor.
- Egg: Use for an egg wash to brush on the pizza rolls. This gives them a shiny, golden finish.
- Seasonings: Italian seasoning and garlic powder are mixed into an egg wash for added flavor.
See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Recipe Substitutions & Additions
- Crescent Dough: Swap with store-bought pizza dough rolled thin and cut into triangles. You canalso use puff pastry, but the overall texture will be different (more flaky) and the bake time will be longer to cook through.
- Mozzarella: Swap mozzarella with your favorite cheese! I prefer cutting out sections directly from a block. of cheese, but shredded cheese also works.
- Pepperoni: Swap pepperoni with your favorite pizza toppings! Sausage and veggies work well, or omit toppings altogether for plain cheese pizza rolls.
- Eggs: Swap the egg with 3 tablespoons of milk or 3 tablespoons of melted butter.
Step-by-step Instructions

STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and line a 9 by 13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles.
STEP 2: Slice the cheese block into 8 thin rectangles and set aside (Images 1 & 2).
STEP 3: On each triangle, spoon 1/2 teaspoon of pizza sauce evenly on top. Be careful not to add too much pizza sauce so that the rolls do not end up soggy when baked. Lay one piece of cheese and a few pepperoni slices on top (Image 3). Roll tightly, starting from the widest end toward the tip. Pinch the ends closed as needed and place rolls seam-side down on the baking sheet (Image 4).

STEP 4: Make the egg wash mixture. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder until combined (Image 5 & 6).
STEP 5: Brush each roll with the beaten egg mixture. (Image 7).
STEP 6: Bake the rolls for 15 minutes or until golden and puffed (Image 8). Let the crescent pizza rolls cool slightly before serving.
Storage Instructions
Once cooled, store leftover crescent pizza rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for 3–4 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F until warm and crisp. You can also freeze baked rolls and reheat them later at 350°F for about 10‑12 minutes.

Tips For Success
- Seal the edges well. Roll each crescent tightly and press the edges gently to keep the cheese from oozing out while baking.
- Don’t overfill them. You can want to pack in extra cheese or pepperoni, but too much filling can cause the rolls to burst open in the oven.
- Line your baking sheet. Use parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking.
