What You’ll Need

Here is what you’ll need to make these banana fruit popsicles:

Ingredients to make banana popsicles.
  • Bananas: Ripe and sweet bananas form the base of these popsicles. They add natural sweetness and smooth texture.
  • Greek Yogurt: Use full-fat whole-milk Greek yogurt and not low-fat Greek yogurt to ensure that the bars are creamy in texture and not icy when frozen.
  • Maple Syrup: Optional, for extra sweetness depending on banana ripeness.
  • Ground Cinnamon: For a little spice and added flavor.
  • Chocolate Chips: Optional, for dipping or drizzling. Melt with coconut oil for a smooth coating.

See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Recipe Substitutions & Additions

  • Greek Yogurt: The Greek yogurt may be replaced with 1 cup of full-fat coconut milk for a dairy-free option.
  • Maple Syrup: The maple syrup may be replaced with equal parts honey for added sweetness if desired.
  • Toppings: We love topping these popsicles with a drizzle of melted chocolate and chopped nuts, but you can top with whatever you’d like! Shredded coconut and crushed freeze-dried fruits also make great topping options. You can also leave the popsicles plain and enjoy them as is!

Step-by-Step Instructions

Steps to make banana popsicles.

STEP 1: Add the bananas, Greek yogurt, ground cinnamon, and maple syrup to a high-powered blender and blend until completely smooth (Images 1 & 2). Taste the mixture and adjust the amount of maple syrup as desired.

STEP 2: Place popsicle molds on top of a baking tray for easy transferring and pour the banana yogurt filling evenly into the molds (Image 3). Place the molds in the freezer for 2 to 3 hours, or until the bars are completely frozen.

STEP 3: For an optional chocolate drizzle, add chocolate chips to a bowl or cup along with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds and stir it. Microwave in 10-second increments, stirring in between each time until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth and drizzle it on top of the banana popsicles (Image 4). Top with extra toppings if desired.

Storage Instructions

Once fully frozen, store the banana popsicles in an airtight, freezer-safe container to prevent freezer burn. I recommend placing some parchment paper between the bars (or wrapping them separately in parchment paper) to prevent sticking.

Tips For Success

  • Make sure to use full-fat, whole milk Greek yogurt and not low-fat Greek yogurt so that the bars are creamy when frozen and not icy in texture.
  • Use a high-powered blender to make sure that the nuts are fully blended and smooth. I love using this nutribullet blender.
  • If you choose to dip or drizzle your banana popsicles with chocolate, make sure that the bars are completely frozen in the popsicle molds beforehand. If the bars are melting, the chocolate will not stick properly to the bars, so keep them in the freezer right until you’re ready for toppings.
